Sizzling Sisig: The Ultimate Sizzling Filipino Dish

This dish is one of the best Filipino pork dishes.

Sizzling Sisig, a Filipino delicacy traditionally served as “pulutan” or an appetizer to match the favorite Filipino beer, San Miguel. This dish is one of the best Filipino pork dishes. It is made of chopped pig’s head parts (snout, ears, cheeks), and liver, served in a hot sizzling plate, topped or seasoned with Kalamansi and chili peppers. Yum.

I have to admit that I don’t know how to cook this dish. By the sound and looks of it, it has always made me feel overwhelmed to even attempt to cook it. So I would always just end up ordering it in Filipino restaurants. And a trip to NY would allow me to do just that…

I’ve been to other Filipino restaurants in New York before, especially in Brooklyn, where they all seem to be located. One day, I decided to go to Ihawan, a small, casual Filipino restaurant at the Woodside. I ordered quite a few of my favorites, and Sizzling Sisig was one fo them.

It was my first time to try their Sizzling Sisig, and wow, I was impressed. The dish came on hot sizzling plate, topped with egg, chili peppers and lime. Damn, that was pretty good! Their Lechon Kawali was pretty damn good too. Needless to say, I left that place so delightfully full, ha!

If you’re ever in NY and craving Filipino food, I’d recommend Ihawan. I was so glad I checked the place out.

Overall Verdict: Ang sarap! (So delicious!) *burp*
