Destination San Antonio: A Rich Colonial Heritage

Here are places to see in San Antonio.

I did not know what to expect of the city, except for the brutally hot weather. It felt like sauna when you’re outside. I’m not kidding nor exaggerating… and here I am, someone who was born and raised in the Philippines, complaining about how hot the weather was in San Antonio. Believe it or not, during those days I was in San Antonio, I swear, that city felt hotter than Manila…

I was only there for a few days so my exploration of the city was very limited. But I learned quickly that San Antonio is city full of history – from its Native American occupation, Spanish explorer discovery, Old West, to the Battle of the Alamo, and others.

Despite the hot temperature and limited time, I did enjoy a slice of paradise in the city. Below is a summary of my itinerary – and if you are visiting San Antonio, here are some things that are a must to put on your itinerary as well:

The resort is is simply beautiful. It includes gorgeous landscaped terraces, five pools including a kids’ pool with splash and waterslides, and one adult-only infinity Topaz pool with picturesque views overlooking the Texas Hill Country. San Antonio Riverwalk

San Antonio's River Walk is the city's most popular tourist attraction. Walkways along the banks for the San Antonio River with strips of places to shop and dine – it's no surprise that this place takes in about 11 million visitors every year. It is the heart and soul of the city. There were a lot of tourists, of course. I loved that there are so many choices for places to eat, local restaurants, and local shops.

NOTABLE PLACES FOR A BITE:

Ostra, An Exquisite Seafood Restaurant

Stopped by Ostra for lunch, an exquisite seafood dining at the River Walk. I had their Verlasso Salmon that was so delish! I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the mood for good seafood.

Primero Cantina, A Cool Casual Indoor/Outdoor Mexican Restaurant

This restaurant offers a cool vibe for casual dining. It's good for families or group of people dining together. Prices are affordable. Staffs were friendly. Good food and good hand-crafted cocktails.

The Alamo

The Alamo, this is where it began... where heroes who fought for freedom and bravery died. A place full of history, The Alamo is the most visited historic landmark of the state of Texas. Experience the battlefield and learn in-depth history, and "remember the Alamo!"

Wildseed Farms

I also had the chance to visit wildflower fields farm for the first time. We stopped at Wildseed Farms by Fredericksburg. Now, you may be wondering why I stopped by at this place. We were shooting for a video/commercial project and this was one of our locations. The drive to Fredericksburg from the city was a littler over an hour. It was actually pretty cool though… I saw a lot of ranches with animals in it like deer, goats, etc. The wildflower fields are gorgeous, BUT I was very alert in case of snakes… yikes!

Sisterdale Dance Hall

And lastly, I had a chance to visit a local dance hall, the Sisterdale Dance Hall. It was another location we scouted for the project we were working on. This would be a very beautiful venue for wedding, engagement photos, or any special event. The place is charming, rustic, and quite lovely at night. Take a look at some of the photos I took of the dance hall below.

A Walk In the City

I spent the rest of my time just walking in the city and checking things out!

Again, my stay in San Antonio was very limited because I was there for a project. I know there are a lot more places I should have checked out. But time didn’t allow it for this trip. I am certain I will go back there and will have more time to explore. Perhaps during fall or winter season.

And to end this post, I'm leaving you with a video of a band covering 007 theme song. We hired this band for the video project we were working on. While we were setting up for the scene, they were warming up playing some tunes.
